Eric Solash
Eric Solash is a Co-founder and Managing Partner of Sag Harbor ILS Partners. Prior to starting Sag Harbor, Solash served as Global Head of Capital Markets for Victor Insurance, one of the world’s largest MGAs focused on specialty lines P&C insurance. Victor Insurance is wholly owned by Marsh & McLennan (NYSE: MMC), the world largest insurance broker. MMC also owns Guy, Carpenter the world’s largest reinsurance broker. While at Victor, Solash focused on originating, structuring, and funding Cat and Non-Cat insurance products including large commercial Cat risk transferred into the ILS markets, SME Cat risk originated for the Lloyd’s market, and Non-Cat insurance sourced for insurers and offshore reinsurers. Prior to joining Victor, Solash served as Managing Director and Alternative Funding Manager of Sales & Project Finance for General Electric. Before joining GE, Solash was a Partner and Managing Director at Freeman & Co. LLC where he ran the insurance investment banking group as well as worked on asset management and depositary institution transactions. Prior to Freeman, Solash ran mergers and acquisitions for Inviva, Inc., an insurance holding company. Solash previously traded emerging market debt and derivatives for Barclays Capital, and mortgage and emerging market debt and derivatives for Salomon Smith Barney. Mr. Solash received a BA in American History from the University of Pennsylvania.
Stephen Young, PhD
Stephen Young is a Co-founder and Managing Partner of Sag Harbor ILS Partners. Prior to starting Sag Harbor, Mr. Young was a Managing Director at Citigroup for almost twenty years. Most recently, he was Head of the Long-Term Asset Group and oversaw three legacy businesses – Citi Reinsurance, the Long-Term Asset Group, and the Subprime Portfolio Group. He served as President, CEO and lead board director for Prime Reinsurance, a Vermont-regulated reinsurance company. Prior to that, Mr. Young developed and oversaw Citigroup’s proprietary insurance-related investing activities as part of its Special Situations unit. Mr. Young began his tenure at Citigroup in 2002 as a member of senior financial management, where he built and headed the Corporate Bank’s Accounting Policy and Structuring team. Prior to joining Citigroup, Mr. Young held positions in Arthur Andersen’s Accounting Principles Group (National Office) and as a Fellow at the Financial Accounting Standards Board. Mr. Young holds a Ph.D. in Finance and a Master’s in Accountancy from Case Western Reserve University, a B.A. in Accounting from Brock University and is a Certified Public Accountant. He currently serves on the advisory board for the Department of Accountancy at Case Western Reserve University and a charitable foundation board for Brock University.
